What should I review before starting a Bloomreach Experience Manager project on Bloomreach Cloud?

Before you begin, review all Bloomreach Cloud documentation thoroughly. Pay particular attention to the following sections:

Why do I get an error when uploading my distribution, and how can I resolve it?

Your distribution must include the Enterprise Repository and Lucene export JAR files. For details, see Configure Experience project for deployment in Cloud. Verify that the following files are present:

{project_root_folder}/webapps/site.war {project_root_folder}/webapps/cms.war {project_root_folder}/webapps/cms/WEB-INF/lib/hippo-enterprise-repository-engine-{version}.jar {project_root_folder}/webapps/cms/WEB-INF/lib/hippo-addon-lucene-export-{version}.jar

What should I do if deployment in an environment is slow or fails?

If deployment is stuck or fails in an environment, take one of the following actions:

  1. In the environment details screen, under Deployment, select Mark as failed to stop the deployment. Failed or stuck deployments may corrupt the database. Restore a backup to ensure a clean database before redeploying.
  2. Alternatively, delete the environment and create a new one. This also ensures a clean database. If needed, restore the latest backup from the deleted environment. To do this, go to Backups in the left menu and select Deleted environments.

Can my site be available at an apex domain (without the www. subdomain)?

Yes. Bloomreach can provide the static IP addresses of the Cloudflare zone. You can reference these with an A record in your DNS zone for the apex domain. Cloudflare will proxy traffic to the AWS load balancers.

To redirect apex domain traffic to the "www" subdomain, use the URL Rewriter add-on in the CMS.

Contact Bloomreach Support to request this setup.

Why does my website not respond or return an error when accessed over plain HTTP?

HTTP is not supported for security reasons. Modern browsers display warnings for HTTP. Use HTTPS for all traffic. Ensure your HST virtual hosts configuration is set up for HTTPS.

Are there regular maintenance windows that could affect my stack?

Bloomreach may update your stack every two weeks. Most updates do not impact environments. In some cases, such as Java or Tomcat upgrades, CMS containers may be updated using session draining to move traffic to new containers. This process does not cause downtime but may take up to 8 hours. Schedule these operations during low-traffic periods. Bloomreach will notify you in advance. Contact Bloomreach if you need to request a different time window.

How does Bloomreach Cloud handle unexpected maintenance?

For urgent issues, such as critical security fixes, Bloomreach follows the same process as for regular maintenance windows.

Will maintenance cause a stack outage?

No. Bloomreach Cloud processes and software are designed to prevent outages during maintenance.

What is the IP address of Bloomreach Cloud?

For ingress traffic, see Can my site be available at an apex domain (without the www. subdomain)?.

Bloomreach Cloud can also configure static IP addresses for egress traffic. All outbound traffic from the cluster to external services will use a predefined IP range. Contact Bloomreach to enable this configuration.

How can I allow or restrict traffic based on IP address?

Use the IP filter plugin to restrict CMS or site access to specific IP addresses. When using Bloomreach Cloud, set the forwarded-for-header property in the plugin to X-Original-Forwarded-For.

Does Bloomreach Cloud provide a DDoS solution?

Yes. Bloomreach Cloud uses Cloudflare, which provides DDoS protection for one primary domain at no additional cost.

Does Bloomreach Cloud provide a CDN solution?

Yes. Bloomreach Cloud integrates with Cloudflare for CDN services. One primary domain is included. Additional domains may incur extra costs. Contact Bloomreach for details if you require more than one domain.

What is the response or connection timeout for requests to CMS or Site?

Refer to Bloomreach Cloud Restrictions and Limitations for timeout values.

Are there any restrictions or limitations in Bloomreach Cloud?

Yes. See Bloomreach Cloud Restrictions and Limitations for details.

What user groups exist in Bloomreach Cloud, and what are their privileges?

Bloomreach Cloud defines two user groups: User and Admin.

  • User
    • Cannot view or edit users with admin or root access
    • Cannot mark an environment as production
    • Has read-only access to the domains view
  • Admin
    • Cannot view or edit users with root access
    • Can mark an environment as production
    • Has read and write access to the domains view

How does Bloomreach Cloud define a page view?

See the Bloomreach Cloud Page View Definition documentation for details.
