Overview

The URL Rewriter Enterprise Add-on provides a servlet filter for managing URL rewriting and redirection rules within Bloomreach Content. This filter extends Paul Tuckey's UrlRewriteFilter, but instead of relying on a static XML configuration file, it loads rules that are managed dynamically in the CMS.

Supported Rule Types

The URL Rewriter supports the following rule actions:

  • temporary-redirect: Issues an HTTP 302 (Temporary Redirect) response.
  • permanent-redirect: Issues an HTTP 301 (Permanent Redirect) response.
  • forward: Forwards requests that match the specified conditions and "from" pattern to the URL defined in the "to" element, using internal forwarding.
  • redirect: Redirects requests that match the specified conditions and "from" pattern using an HTTP redirect.
  • pre-include: Includes content before the main request processing.
  • post-include: Includes content after the main request processing.
  • proxy: Proxies the request to the specified full URL.

Project History

The URL Rewriter originated as a community-supported plugin. Starting with CMS 12, it is also available as an Enterprise Add-on, which is documented on this page. The open source, community-maintained version remains available at https://github.com/bloomreach-forge/url-rewriter, with documentation at https://bloomreach-forge.github.io/url-rewriter/.
