Bloomreach Cloud Restrictions and Limitations

This page outlines the default restrictions and limitations for Bloomreach Cloud environments.

Default Infrastructure Setup

A standard Bloomreach Cloud cluster includes three nodes. In the production environment, the cluster runs three pods. All other environments use two pods.
For custom pod or node configurations and associated costs, contact your account manager.

Default Restrictions

The following default restrictions apply. Actual values may vary by stack.

  • Only supported Bloomreach Experience Manager versions are allowed. See Bloomreach Experience Manager Releases and End-of-Life, Updates, and Supported Product Versions for details.
  • Maximum of four environments per stack. Contact your account manager if you need more environments.
  • Maximum of 100 distributions. Refer to the API documentation for instructions on replacing distributions during CI uploads.
  • Only one production environment is supported per stack.
  • Backups are retained for 90 days, and for 30 days after contract termination.
  • The maximum nginx proxy buffer size is 8 KB. Applications cannot return more than 8 KB of data in the response header.
  • The maximum supported distribution file size is 650 MB.
  • The maximum supported configuration file size is 65 KB.
  • The site connection timeout is 60 seconds. Site applications must respond within this time.
  • The CMS connection timeout is 180 seconds.

Upload Limit

The maximum upload size for the CMS is 15 MB.

You can configure the upload limit in the CMS to a lower value. Large uploads increase database size rapidly, which slows down backup and restore operations.
Customers must keep their database size within the 60 GB data limit. Exceeding this limit can affect Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) guarantees, leading to possible delays in data recovery during outages.
Manage data growth carefully and consider using a Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution.

Starting with version 13.2, Bloomreach Experience Manager supports OpenUI and DAM plugins. See the v13.2 release notes for details.

Log Retention

Bloomreach Cloud uses Humio for log management. Logs are retained for 60 days.

Humio enforces a monthly data limit of 30 GB. Exceeding this limit may result in additional charges or restrictions. Contact support for custom solutions or questions.

Application Environment Limitations

Bloomreach Cloud is a cloud-native platform. Applications must not rely on specific machine characteristics:

  • Do not use HttpSession to store state in the website application. Use cookies or external services such as a CRM to manage session data.
  • Do not rely on the IP addresses of the Elastic Load Balancer (ELB). For more information, see the FAQ (IP address section).

Relevance Module Data Limit

Keep targeting data below 40 GB per environment. Exceeding this limit can cause long backup and restore times during blue/green deployments and may increase RDS costs.

Redis Restrictions

Redis is reserved for internal Bloomreach Cloud platform operations. It is not available for Second Level Page Cache or Cluster-Wide Generic Cache when using the HST Enterprise Caching add-on.

Page View Definition

Page views are a key usage metric for Bloomreach Experience Manager and Bloomreach Cloud. For details, see the Bloomreach Cloud Page View Definition.

Important Notice

Customers and partners must not provide access to Bloomreach products and services to employees, consultants, contractors, internal users, or affiliates located in Russia without legal authorization.
Currently, Bloomreach does not block Russian IP addresses, but reserves the right to do so in the future.
You may continue using Bloomreach products as long as you comply with these guidelines.
