Prepare the First Project Release

Info: This guide applies to Bloomreach Experience Manager versions 14, 15, and 16. If you use an earlier version, some steps may differ.

This procedure uses the project you created in Prepare the Project as part of the Deploy in Bloomreach Cloud tutorial.

Release the Project

Set the project version to 1.0.0 using the Versions Maven Plugin.

From your project’s root directory, run:

mvn versions:set -DnewVersion=1.0.0

This command updates the version in the root pom.xml and all submodules.

Remove temporary backup files created by the Versions plugin:

mvn versions:commit

Note: For production projects, use the Maven Release Plugin to also tag the release in your version control system.

You must package the project as a distribution before deploying to Bloomreach Cloud.

From your project’s root directory, run:

mvn clean verify
mvn -P dist

For Bloomreach Experience Manager 11 projects, use:

mvn clean verify
mvn -P dist-with-content

The build process creates a distribution file in the target directory:

myproject/target/myproject-1.0.0-distribution.tar.gz

In the next step, you will upload this file to Bloomreach Cloud and deploy it to the blue environment.
