Workflow Process Management

Workflow Process Management (WPM) is an optional module for Bloomreach Content. It enables the Projects feature in the CMS, allowing teams to manage channel changes that must follow a workflow process before publication.
WPM introduces two core technical concepts:
HST Configuration Branching and Merging
When a CMS user creates a project and adds a channel, the HST configuration for that channel is branched. Changes made within the project context are isolated to the project branch. The core branch remains unaffected and can be updated and published independently.
You can merge updates from the core branch into a project branch by updating the project. After review and approval, changes from a project branch can be merged into the core. For details on the review process, see Review a Project.
This branching and merging model is similar to workflows in version control systems such as Git. The Projects feature applies this approach to HST configuration, allowing teams to develop and review changes in isolation before merging.
Business Process Management Engine
Before merging a project branch into the core, all changes must go through a review and approval workflow.
In brXM 14.3 and earlier, this project workflow is managed by the external BPM engine Camunda, which is deployed as a separate WAR file on the application server.
Starting with brXM 14.4, the project workflow is managed within the repository, and Camunda is no longer required. For migration instructions, see Upgrade 14.3 to 14.4 and Remove Camunda.
