Upgrade 14.3 to 14.4

Overview

This guide describes how to upgrade a Bloomreach Content project from version 14.3.x to 14.4.y.

Upgrade Method

If you are upgrading from version 14.3.3, you can use the rolling update method to deploy your 14.4.0 project.

For all other upgrade paths, rolling updates are not supported. Use a stop-start deployment method, such as blue-green deployment, to deploy the upgraded 14.4.0 project.

Significant Changes

Experience Page Layout Inheritance

Experience Pages were introduced in version 14.3. Version 14.4.0 adds support for inheritance of Experience Page Layouts.

Refer to Experience Page Layouts Configuration for configuration details.

Checker Repository Maintenance Tool Update

The Checker Repository Maintenance tool has been updated to version 2.4.

Upgrade Steps

1. Perform Generic Minor Upgrade Steps

Follow the generic instructions for minor upgrades.

2. Remove Camunda (If Using Projects Feature)

Starting with version 14.4, the Camunda BPM engine is no longer used to manage review states for projects. On the first deployment of the upgraded CMS, all externally managed review states are migrated into the repository. After migration, the Camunda web application is no longer required and should not be deployed.

If your project uses the Projects feature, review the Remove Camunda instructions before starting the upgrade.

3. H2 Development Database Update: MVCC Parameter Removal

The H2 database used for local development is upgraded from version 1.4.199 to 1.4.200.

If your project was created before brXM 14.0.0 and uses the Relevance feature, verify that the MVCC parameter has been removed from the H2 database connection URL. See Upgrade 13 to 14 - Relevance: remove MVCC parameter from H2 database connection URL for instructions.
