Overview

The Bloomreach Enterprise Repository extension provides advanced support for running Bloomreach Content in both on-premise and cloud environments. This extension improves reliability and performance for enterprise deployments.

Currently, the Enterprise Repository is an optional module. However, future releases of Bloomreach Content may require it. Existing customers should consider adding the Enterprise Repository extension to their projects now to prepare for upcoming changes.

The Enterprise Repository is included automatically when you convert an enterprise project using Essentials. You can also add it manually by following the instructions on that page.

Concurrent Initialization of Cluster Instances

The Enterprise Repository extends the standard repository to support concurrent initialization of multiple cluster instances. This enhancement addresses limitations in the community edition of Hippo CMS and its underlying Apache Jackrabbit engine, which do not support concurrent cluster initialization. In those editions, you must start or add new cluster instances one at a time.

In automated or cloud environments, you may need to start several cluster instances simultaneously. Without the Enterprise Repository, this can cause conflicts because each instance attempts to create and share configuration and data in the backend database at the same time.

With the Enterprise Repository extension, you can initialize multiple cluster instances concurrently. The extension manages and protects the critical initialization phase, ensuring that only the first phase runs sequentially. This prevents conflicts and enables reliable automation of cluster scaling and startup.

For faster and more reliable cluster initialization, combine the Enterprise Repository with the Lucene Index Export feature. This combination allows you to automate and scale out clustered environments efficiently.
