The Configuration Verifier
Overview
The Configuration Verifier (CV) is a tool for Bloomreach Content that helps developers and project teams identify configuration differences during upgrades between major releases. The CV is available to Bloomreach Content customers and partners.
You can also use the CV at any time to verify and report on project-specific configuration changes.
When to Use
Use the Configuration Verifier when:
- Upgrading between major versions of Bloomreach Content.
- Auditing or verifying project configuration changes.
- Comparing your current project configuration with a previous repository state.
How the Configuration Verifier Works
The CV runs as part of the CMS application's startup and initialization process. It is triggered using the predefined verify-configuration Maven profile in your project.
During execution, the CV:
- Loads the current project configuration, including HST platform and site web app configurations.
- Compares the loaded configuration against the existing repository database.
- Reports all detected differences (deltas) in a structured YAML format.
The CV does not:
- Modify or update the repository.
- Check for changes in namespaces, node types, or content.
- Provide a user interface. All results are output in a specific delta format.
After the comparison, the process stops the Maven/Cargo execution and shuts down the web container (Tomcat). The repository is not modified or left running for regular use.
You can run the CV locally during development or in a deployable environment. The standard setup requires running the verify-configuration Maven profile together with the cargo.run profile.
