Add Advanced Search to a Project

Before you begin, set up a Bloomreach Content project.

To enable Advanced Search, add the following dependencies to your project's cms/cms-dependencies/pom.xml file:

Rebuild your project to apply the changes.

You can control which document types appear in the filter section of the Document Search application. Set the following properties:

/hippo:configuration/hippo:frontend/cms/cms-advanced-search/genericFilters:
  document.type.namespaces: [ 'myproject' ]
  document.type.excluded: [ 'myproject:basedocument' ]

This configuration includes all document types in the myproject namespace, except for myproject:basedocument.

If users do not select any document types in the filter, the search results will include all document types, regardless of this configuration.

Configure Inclusion of Subtypes

By default, search results do not include subtypes of the selected document types. To change this behavior, use the following property:

/hippo:configuration/hippo:frontend/cms/cms-advanced-search/genericFilters:
  document.subtypes.included: false

Set document.subtypes.included to true to include subtypes of the selected document types in search results.

Configure Wildcard Postfixing

Advanced Search applies wildcard postfixing to search terms with three or more characters by default. This causes the search to match documents containing words that start with the search term. To adjust or disable this behavior, configure the Search Service used by Advanced Search.

Configure Character Limit of Search Input

Starting with version 13.2.0, you can limit the number of characters allowed in the main search input of the Document Search application by setting the following property:

/hippo:configuration/hippo:frontend/cms/cms-static/advancedSearchPerspective:
  search.input.maxlength: 100

If this property is missing or not set to a positive value, no character limit is enforced.
