Overview

An XML Rule allows you to define custom URL rewrite logic by entering XML that is compatible with Paul Tuckey's Url Rewrite Filter. Refer to the Url Rewrite Filter documentation for details on the XML syntax and available options.

Advanced Settings for 'proxy' Type

When you configure an advanced rule of type 'proxy', you can control additional behavior using attributes on the <to> element in your XML rule.

Drop Cookies

By default, cookies sent by the client are forwarded when using a proxy rule. To prevent cookies from being passed to the target, set the drop-cookies attribute on the <to> element. The following example disables cookie forwarding:

Follow Redirects

Use the followRedirects attribute on the <to> element to control whether the HTTP client follows redirects when proxying requests. This attribute maps to the setRedirectsEnabled method in the HTTP client configuration. For more information, see the RequestConfig.Builder#setRedirectsEnabled documentation.

Use System Properties

Set the useSystemProperties attribute on the <to> element to instruct the HTTP client to use system properties during configuration. This calls the useSystemProperties method on the HTTP client. For details, refer to the HttpClientBuilder#useSystemProperties documentation. When enabled, the HTTP client reads system properties such as https.protocols, https.cipherSuites, http.keepAlive, http.maxConnections, and http.agent, and applies their values if present.
