Using the Essentials Setup Application with Existing Bloomreach Content Projects

The Essentials setup application supports Bloomreach Content projects running version 7.9 or later. Essentials is the recommended tool for initializing new Bloomreach Content projects. However, if you are working with an older project that has been upgraded to version 7.9 or later, you can still use some features of the Essentials setup application.

This page explains how to use parts of the Essentials setup application with projects that were not originally created using Essentials.

Adding the Essentials Setup Application to an Existing Project

You can add the Essentials setup application to an existing Bloomreach Content project (version 7.9 or later). However, the project structure created by Essentials may conflict with your current project structure. Essentials does not guarantee full compatibility with all existing projects, and some interactions may not work as expected.

If you choose to add Essentials to your project, use your version control system (VCS) to track changes. This allows you to identify and revert any unwanted modifications.

Using Generic HST Components

The Essentials setup application provides a set of generic, parameterized HST components. To use these components in an upgraded Bloomreach Content project, add the following dependency to your site module’s pom.xml file:
