Upgrade 16.0 to 16.1
Overview
This guide describes how to upgrade a Bloomreach Content project from version 16.0.x to 16.1.y.
Notable Changes in 16.1
- Stale Page Caching has been reintroduced. This feature improves delivery performance by serving cached pages to multiple visitors while only one request triggers a cache update.
- The user interface now outlines selected sections in content blocks and compound fields. Editors can more easily identify the content they are editing.
- Issues with experiment-related features have been resolved. Components previously blocked by usage in another user's experiment are now accessible as expected.
- A bug in the Pending Request panel that caused exceptions and prevented CMS login has been fixed.
- The Pending Request panel no longer displays items for deleted documents that cannot be acted upon.
- A confirmation dialog now appears when removing a user, reducing the risk of accidental deletions.
- The
TaxonomyClassificationInterceptornow correctly processes inherited taxonomy fields without throwing exceptions.

1. Complete Generic Minor Upgrade Steps
Follow the generic instructions for minor upgrades before proceeding with version-specific changes.
2. Review Custom Code for Library Compatibility
Several core libraries have been updated in this release. Pay particular attention to:
xmlbeans(used for processing custom REST API requests with XML payloads)PDFBoxPOI(used for extracting text from office file formats)
These updates address security vulnerabilities but may introduce backward compatibility issues. Review your custom project code for any dependencies or usage of these libraries, and test thoroughly to ensure compatibility.
