Document Type

A document type defines the data structure and editing template for a specific class of documents. Document types can include both primitive fields and compound type fields.

Compound Type

A compound type defines the data structure and editing template for a reusable group of document fields. Compound types can contain both primitive fields and other compound types. Instances of compound types only exist within a document instance.

Image Set Type

An image set type is a specialized document type used to store multiple size variants of an image.

Content Type

A content type is a general term for any definition of a class of content items. Document types, compound types, and image set types are all considered content types.

Namespace

A namespace groups multiple content types to prevent naming collisions when duplicate content type names exist.

Prototype

A prototype is a template used to create new instances of a content type.

Editing Plugin

An editing plugin is a user interface component that allows editing of a single content type field.

Editing Template

An editing template is a configuration of editing plugins that authors use to edit content items of a specific content type.

Node

Nodes make up the structure of the content repository. Each node can have zero or more child nodes. The repository structure forms a tree of nodes.

Property

A property is a value stored within a node. Properties have primitive types such as String or Double.

Document Variant

A document variant is a node representing a document in a specific workflow state, such as draft, unpublished, or published. Multiple document variants can exist simultaneously.

Document Handle

A document handle is a parent node representing a content item. It contains all variants of that document as its child nodes.
