Deploy on Tomcat 10 / Java 17

This page describes how to deploy a brXM 16 project to an environment running Tomcat 10 and Java 17.

Common Libraries

The project distribution generated with the -Pdist profile (see create a project distribution) has updated library requirements in brXM 16.

In brXM 16, the /common/lib directory includes the following libraries:

• jakarta.activation-api.jar
• jakarta.mail-api.jar
• angus-activation.jar
• angus-mail.jar

This replaces the single jakarta.mail.jar from Sun that was used in brXM 15.

The following libraries should still be present:

• geronimo-jta_1.1_spec.jar
• jcr.jar

Do not include any activation or mail-related JAR files in the cms.war or site.war. These JARs should also not be pre-installed in Tomcat (for example, do not place them in /usr/local/share/tomcat-common/lib as previously documented for brXM 15).

context.xml Configuration

Due to the migration from javax to jakarta namespaces, update any "mail/Session" resource definitions in conf/context.xml. Change the type attribute from javax.mail.Session to jakarta.mail.Session:
