Repository Configuration

Overview

The repository configuration file defines the components and settings for the content repository. Bloomreach Content (formerly Hippo Repository) provides a default repository.xml file. You only need to modify this file if you require a custom PersistenceManager, AccessManager, LoginModule, or SearchIndex.

Configuration File Structure

The repository configuration file includes the following elements:

1. FileSystem
2. Security
3. Workspaces root directory
4. Workspace
5. Versioning
6. SearchIndex

The structure of the configuration file is shown below:

Most XML attribute values are interpreted as plain strings. The following variables are exceptions and are resolved at runtime:

• ${rep.home}
• ${wsp.name}
• ${wsp.home}

Configuration Elements

FileSystem Element

The <FileSystem> element defines the virtual file system used by the repository to persist global state, such as registered namespaces and custom node types.

Refer to the Jackrabbit documentation for more information about this element.

Security Element

The <Security> element configures the JAAS application entry and the access manager. By default, Bloomreach Content uses the following security configuration:

Workspaces Element

The <Workspaces> element sets the location of the workspaces root directory and specifies the default workspace name.

Workspace Element

The <Workspace> element serves as a template for individual workspace configuration files. Each new workspace uses this template.

SearchIndex Element

The <SearchIndex> element defines the search index for repository-wide content, including the /jcr:system tree, which primarily contains version information.

Versioning Element

The <Versioning> element configures settings related to versioning in the repository.
