Upgrade the Parent Artifact Version

Update your project's parent artifact version (hippo-cms7-release or hippo-cms7-enterprise-release) to the latest available release in the 15.x series.

After updating the parent version, you must complete additional upgrade steps before the project will build and start successfully.

Upgrade Essentials Version

Essentials is primarily intended for scaffolding new projects. If your project still includes Essentials and you plan to keep it during the upgrade, update the <essentials.version> property in the root pom.xml to the latest 15.x version. If you do not require Essentials, remove the essentials module from your project.

Upgrade Dependency Versions

Ideally, your project's parent artifact manages all dependency versions. In this case, no further action is required. If your project overrides specific dependency versions, review each override to determine if it is still necessary. Remove obsolete overrides during the upgrade process.

If your project depends on add-ons not managed by the parent artifact—such as community-supported Bloomreach Content add-ons from Bloomreach Forge—you will likely need to update these dependencies to versions compatible with 15.x. If a compatible version is available, use it. If not, request a 15.x-compatible release from the community or update the add-on yourself.
