Prepare brXM v13 Project for Upgrade to v14

H2 Database Upgrade

When you develop locally with Cargo, the repository data is stored in a directory on your file system, typically named storage. To retain repository data across Maven rebuilds and to improve application startup time, store this directory outside the project's target folder.

brXM version 13 uses H2 database version 1.3.x. Version 14 upgrades H2 to 1.4.x, which introduces a new storage format that is not compatible with previous versions. Because of this change, you must update your project and remove any existing H2 storage directories before upgrading.

Upgrade v13 Project to H2 1.4.x Before Upgrading

The Configuration Verifier, which is used during the upgrade process to compare repository data before and after the upgrade, requires both the old and new databases to use the same format. To meet this requirement, configure your v13 project to use H2 1.4.x before starting the upgrade.

Update the root pom.xml of your brXM 13 project with the following changes:

Add the h2.database.version property:

Override the H2 dependency in the dependency management section:

Delete and Rebuild Local H2 Database Storage Folders

Remove any existing local H2 storage directories for your v13 project. These directories are incompatible with H2 1.4.x and cannot be reused.

After deleting the storage directories, build and start your brXM 13 project. This process creates and initializes the repository using the H2 1.4.x format.
