Product Detail Document
Overview
The Product Detail component retrieves product information and renders it on landing pages. In the Bloomreach Accelerator: B2C Commerce Boot application, you can add the Product Detail component to pages using drag-and-drop.
Component Overview
The Product Detail component (named "Product" in the Bloomreach Accelerator: B2C Commerce) supports multiple configuration options for including product details in your application:
- Item Id: Specify the external product ID directly.
- Content Enrichment: Select a product decorator document that links to an external product.
You can also configure the Commerce Connector ID. Use this field to specify a backend if the detail component should fetch data from a particular source.
Component Details
Product Detail is a command chain delivery component designed to integrate with commerce platforms. For supported commerce platform configurations, see Commerce Backend Configuration. Commerce connectors use the productDetail commerce component, which is defined in the Default Commerce Connector Set document.
The Product Detail component uses the contentEnricherCommand to support content enrichment. This command enables you to enhance external product data with content managed in Bloomreach Content. The application provides decorator document types, such as the product decorator. Editors can create these documents in Bloomreach Content, link them to external products, and provide additional content for each product.
Content enrichment stores additional data in Bloomreach Content without modifying the original data from external backends. Decorator document types currently include a minimal set of fields for enriching or overriding external data, depending on your template logic. You can customize these document types as needed. Data that changes frequently, such as price (for example, during flash sales), continues to come from the backend. The front-end application always displays the most recent external data for these fields.
The Bloomreach Accelerator: B2C Commerce Boot application also supports product detail document-driven pages. If you create a product detail document using the product decorator type in the Products root folder, the document becomes available at /products/<product_id>. In this scenario, you do not need to use the Product Detail component.
