Product and Category Highlight Components

Overview

The Bloomreach Accelerator: B2C Commerce Boot application includes two Highlight components: one for products and one for categories. You can configure each component with a list of decorator documents. The components support carousel-style templates for rendering these items.

Component Overview

The Product and Category Highlight components allow you to display a set of items in the Bloomreach Accelerator: B2C Commerce Boot application. These components extend the functionality of the Essentials Carousel component and use the same configuration parameters.

Key configuration parameters:

• Carousel item X (X = 1 to 6): Specify the repository path to a category or product decorator document (handle), depending on the component type.
• Template: Select the template used for rendering. The application includes two custom templates for each Highlight component.
• Commerce Connector ID: Identifies the commerce connector. The components use the default connector defined in the channel configuration.

Component Details

Highlight components are implemented as command chain delivery components. The following commerce components are used:

• categoryDetail for the Category Highlight component
• productDetail for the Product Highlight component

Both connector components are defined in the Default Commerce Connector Set document.

The Highlight component uses the contentDecoratorCommand. For each decorator document in the configured list, this command retrieves external data based on the external ID specified in the external document picker. After fetching, the data is available to the delivery tier.

Before each external request, all resolved connector component parameters are cleared. This ensures that each request is independent and does not retain details from previous requests. For implementation details, see the resetConnectorComponent method in the relevant CommerceExchangeState class.

Template Details

The Bloomreach Accelerator: B2C Commerce Boot application provides two templates for each Highlight component.

Category Highlight component templates:

• starterstore-contentenricher.ftl: Displays categories as a unified list.
• starterstore-carouselcontentenricher.ftl: Renders categories in a rotating carousel.

Product Highlight component templates:

• starterstore-productcontentenricher.ftl: Displays products as a unified list.
• starterstore-carouselproductcontentenricher.ftl: Renders product details in a rotating carousel.
