Delivery Tier Search Queries
Overview
This page explains how to construct and execute search queries in the delivery tier of Bloomreach Content (formerly Hippo). It also describes how to render search results using the available APIs.
Purpose
Use the delivery tier search APIs to build and run queries, then render the results in your site's delivery tier.
How Delivery Tier Search Works
The delivery tier provides a Java API for creating and executing search queries. When you execute a query, the system translates your HstQuery object into a JCR XPath query and runs it in the repository. The repository returns JCR Nodes as results. These nodes are mapped to HippoBeans and returned in an HstQueryResult object.
Delivery Tier Search APIs
The delivery tier supports two APIs for search queries:
- Fluent Search API
Available since brXM 11.1. This API offers an intuitive approach to building queries, resulting in more robust and readable code. Use this API for new projects. - Legacy Search API
Available in versions prior to 11.1 and still supported. Existing projects using this API can continue to do so.
Both APIs offer the same search functionality. The Fluent Search API improves code readability and maintainability.
Rendering Search Query Results
Both APIs return results as an HstQueryResult object. The process for rendering these results is the same, regardless of the API used. For implementation examples in JSP and Freemarker, see:
