Configure Tagged Browsing

Overview

This page explains how to configure tagged browsing using a faceted tree in Bloomreach Content.

When to Use

Use tagged browsing to allow users to navigate content by selecting tags, with each selection refining the results based on tag combinations.

Prerequisites

A project created with the Maven archetype
News and Tagging features added to the project
News documents with tags stored in a multi-valued String property (hippostd:tags)

Implementation

To enable tagged browsing, configure a faceted tree that sorts and limits facet values. This approach uses the faceted navigation feature to present tags as navigable facets.

Basic Faceted Tree Configuration

The following configuration creates a faceted tree that lists the 10 most common tags. Selecting a tag refines the navigation to show the 10 tags most commonly combined with the selected tag, and so on for additional selections.

In this example, each tag node displays the count of documents associated with that tag. Selecting a tag further refines the available tag combinations.

Tagged browsing can be used alongside other faceted navigation features, such as facet value ranges. For example, you can add date-based ranges to filter news documents by time periods in addition to tags.

With this configuration, selecting a date range such as 'this week' enables tagged browsing within news documents published during that period.

Verification

Navigate the faceted tree in the console or frontend.
Confirm that selecting a tag refines the list to show documents with that tag and updates the available tag combinations.
If using additional facets (such as date ranges), verify that tag navigation is limited to the selected range.
