CKEditor Caching

CKEditor resources in Bloomreach Content are delivered by the org.onehippo.cms7.utilities.servlet.ResourceServlet. This servlet is configured in the CMS application's web.xml file.

The following example shows the relevant configuration in cms/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/web.xml:

The servlet sets cache-related response headers to allow browsers to cache CKEditor resources for approximately one year:

Expires: currentTimeMillis + 31556926000
Cache-Control: max-age=31556926

CKEditor uses its own resource loader to manage cache busting. On each application server restart, CKEditor generates a new value for CKEDITOR.timestamp. The resource loader appends this timestamp as a query parameter to all resource requests. This ensures that after a server restart, browsers fetch updated resources for both the CKEditor core and any custom plugins.
