Link Picker Configuration

In Bloomreach Content, documents can include links to other content items. Authors create these links using either a dedicated Link field or the link button within a Rich Text Editor field. In both cases, the Link Picker dialog allows authors to browse and select documents, images, or assets from the repository. You can configure the Link Picker dialog for each field where it is used.

You can configure the Link Picker dialog for a Link field using the Document Type Editor:

  1. Open the document type you want to modify.
  2. Select the link field.
  3. In the properties panel, configure the following properties to control the Link Picker dialog:
Property NameProperty TypeSingle or Multiple ValuedDescriptionExamples
nodetypesStringMultipleSpecifies one or more JCR node types that can be selected. The Link Picker dialog enables the 'OK' button when a selectable content type is selected. Node types that extend a selectable node type are also selectable.hippostd:folder, hippostd:xpagefolder, hippo:document, myproject:newsarticle
base.uuidStringSingleUUID of the default folder displayed when the Link Picker dialog opens.f7bdc6a4-d35f-4fb9-8dd9-674b440a8b5f
base.pathStringSinglePath of the default folder displayed when the Link Picker dialog opens. If both base.uuid and base.path are specified, base.uuid takes precedence./content/documents/myproject/news
last.visited.enabledBooleanSingleWhen set to true, the picker dialog remembers and opens the last visited folder for the session. Enabled by default.true, false
language.context.awareBooleanSingleWhen set to true, the Link Picker dialog opens the root content folder for the current document's language by default. Enabled by default. Note: last.visited.enabled takes precedence and must be set to false for this property to apply.true, false
last.visited.keyStringSingleIf specified, the last visited folder is stored separately for this key. Use this to manage multiple "last visited folders," such as one per document type. If not specified, the last visited folder is shared with other link fields that do not specify a last.visited.key.lastnewsfolder, authorlinklastvisited
last.visited.nodetypesStringMultipleBy default, only nodes of type hippostd:folder are considered as "last visited folders." Specify additional node types if you use custom folder node types.myproject:customfoldertype

You can also configure the Link Picker using the Hippo Console:

  • Navigate to the relevant node under hippo:namespaces:
/hippo:namespaces/[your_namespace]/[your_doctype]/editor:templates/_default_/[your_link_field]/cluster.options
  • Add or modify the same properties listed above on the cluster.options node.

You can configure the Link Picker for a Rich Text Editor field using either the Document Type Editor or the Console. The property names differ slightly from those for a Link field:

Property NameProperty TypeSingle or Multiple ValuedDescriptionExamples
linkpicker.nodetypesStringMultipleSpecifies one or more JCR node types that can be selected. The Link Picker dialog enables the 'OK' button when a selectable content type is selected. Node types that extend a selectable node type are also selectable.hippostd:folder, hippostd:xpagefolder, hippo:document, myproject:newsarticle

The properties linkpicker.base.uuid and linkpicker.language.context.aware are not supported for Rich Text Editor fields. For more information, see CMS-9238.

Info: The node type hippostd:xpagefolder is available starting from brXM 14.3.0.

To configure linkpicker.nodetypes globally for all Rich Text Editor fields in all document types, add it to the following JCR node:

/hippo:namespaces/hippostd/html/editor:templates/_default_

The Link Picker dialog includes a Type column that displays the content type of each item. In some installations, this column may be disabled.

To enable or disable the Type column:

  1. Open the Console.
  2. Navigate to /hippo:configuration/hippo:frontend/cms/cms-pickers/documents/navigator/browser.options.
  3. Set the document.type.show property to true (enable) or false (disable):
/hippo:configuration/hippo:frontend/cms/cms-pickers/documents/navigator/browser.options: document.type.show: true

For information on configuring pagination in the Link Picker, see Configure the CMS Folder Listing Page Size.
